Attendance Line:  (248) 837-8230
Parents are expected to report their child's absence to the school attendance office before 9:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. You may also leave a message on voice mail. State child's name, grade and reason for being absent. Excused absences include illness, funerals, medical/dental appointments, religious holidays, prearranged absences.
Make-up work is the student's responsibility.  Students have the number of days equal to the number of days absent to make up work when the absence is excused.  If a student is absent for an extended period (at least 3 days) and able to do school work, a parent may request homework through the school office. Please allow 24 hours for teachers to gather assignments

Tardiness:
A little late is too late. Tardiness to school disrupts learning. Students who arrive at school after 8:15 a.m. should report to the office for an admission pass.
Tardiness to another class during the day is handled by the classroom teacher. Students who are excessively tardy (3+) will be referred to the assistant principal.

Early Dismissal:
Students may not leave the school for any reason without permission from the office. If a student is to be excused during the day, a phone call, or a note indicating the reason for and the time of dismissal, from a parent is required.  This note is submitted to the Main Office at the beginning of the school day.  Students check in and out of the office upon leaving and returning to school.

Illness Dismissal:
Students who become ill during the school day should report to the Main Office where the secretary will contact a parent or guardian. For this reason, it is very important to have accurate phone numbers on emergency cards.
School personnel are not permitted to provide over-the-counter medication, including aspirin, antacids, and/or similar items to students.  We will, however, store over-the-counter medication for students in the office and will administer it with parent permission.

Lunch Procedures:  (Lunch A:  10:59 a.m.-11:44 a.m.;  Lunch B:  11:54 a.m.-12:39 p.m.)
It is school district policy that middle school students, districtwide, remain in school and on campus for the lunch hour.  Students eat lunch in the gymnasium and remain on campus throughout the lunch period.  After eating lunch, a student may participate in basketball, four square, play board games, work in the library, or sit in the lunch room and socialize.  The price of a student is $2.25.
A student who leaves campus during the lunch hour without permission will suffer the consequence for breaking a school rule.
