You can become a part of the Berkley School District (BSD) family in several ways:
1) Gain residency in the Berkley School District.
2) Apply during the Schools of Choice application period. The Berkley Board of Education approved limited openings in Kindergarten through 5th grade for Oakland County residents living outside of the Berkley School District. The application period has EXPIRED for 2010-2011. Please return to the website in December for 2011-2012 information.
3) Pay tuition (which is equal to the amount of state aid Berkley receives). Pay 50% by day one of the 1st semester and the balance by day one of the 2nd semester.
Non-residents students may, at the discretion of the Superintendent, be allowed to enroll in the BSD if they fall into one of the following categories:
1) Children of staff members. You must have an "Employee Request to have a Child Attend BSD" form on file.
2) Students who move from the district (remaining in Oakland County) in the first semester and wish to remain in the district for the second semester may do so by completing a "Request to Continue Enrollment" form.
3) Students who have completed 11th grade at BHS may complete their senior year at BHS if still living in Oakland County. A "Release of Enrollment" from the residing district must be completed.
4) Affidavit on file stating child/family resides with a BSD resident.
5) Enrollment through Schools of Choice.
If you are a family that has recently moved outside of the district, you may or may not be able to remain in BSD schools:
1) If you were a resident, but are now leaving the residency areas, you may not attend school this year. Please return to the website in December for 2011-2012 Schools of Choice information.
2) If you are a current Schools of Choice family and will be moving into another Oakland County city, you may remain in BSD through Schools of Choice. Other than updating your student information card and providing the new residency documentation, no other paper work is required.
