Dennis McDavid
DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS AND HUMAN RESOURCES

Dennis McDavid has been with the Berkley School District since 2005. He left a successful 13 year career in the private sector to get into the education field. He taught for a semester in Phoenix, Arizona before returning to Michigan. He started with the Berkley School District as an English teacher at Berkley High School. In the summer of 2007 he was asked to assume the duties of Principal at Berkley High School. Although rare for a high school teacher to move directly from the classroom to the principalship, it was felt that the skills and experiences of building and leading teams in the private sector would translate well to leading a high school. During his time as principal at BHS student achievement scores improved, the PLC model (already in place) was enhanced and several academic initiatives were introduced. In the fall of 2009 McDavid assumed the duties of Director of Schools and Human Resources. In that role he is responsible for the day to day operations of the district’s schools. He is also responsible for all of the human resources operations.

McDavid earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Oakland University.
