Deputy Superintendent, Lawrence J. Gallagher

Larry Gallagher has been with the Berkley School District since July, 1995, originally in the position of Director of Finance and Operations. In 2007, he was named Deputy Superintendent of Finance, Facilities and Operations, when at that time he also assumed chief negotiator duties for the district. In all, Mr. Gallagher has worked in school finance since 1988. He obtained his School Administration Certificate (Chief School Business Official designation) on June 30, 2000 and earlier earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate and worked as an independent auditor of several school districts and municipalities. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Accounting from the University of Michigan – Dearborn and an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University.

Mr. Gallagher recognizes the great challenges and tremendous obligation of developing and managing a balanced budget that continues to support the outstanding curricular program the district offers our students, especially in today’s difficult economic environment. He takes pride in the revenue enhancement measures the board and district have taken over the past several years that have alleviated, to a degree, the expenditure reduction pressures needed to balance the spending plans. In his 16 years with the district, he has overseen the financial and construction management components of two bond issues (1995 and 2001) and the approval and implementation of the Sinking Fund.
