Mrs. Fitzpatrick joined the Berkley School District in 1986 as a special education teacher at Hamilton Elementary, now Rogers Elementary. For twelve years, Mrs. Fitzpatrick was the Resource Room teacher to many K-5 students needing assistance in a variety of subjects and with emotional needs. In 1998, she became the Curriculum and Staff Development Specialist for the district, working with teachers in math, science, language arts and integrating technology. During that time, she helped secure the new curriculum and resources with the Everyday Math Curriculum. With the retirement of the Assistant Principal at Berkley High School, Mrs. Fitzpatrick left the board office in 2001 to work with high school students. At that time, she was responsible for 9th graders, overseeing the science, math, special education and ESL departments, as well as organizing the staff development efforts. In August, 2004, Mrs. Fitzpatrick was named as the principal of Burton Elementary, returning to her roots as an elementary educator. In July, 2008, she was named as the Curriculum, Technology and Assessment Director for Berkley Schools. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities and Emotional Impairments, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration, both from the University of Detroit. In November, 2009, Mrs. Fitzpatrick added the responsibility of grants to her position. She now serves as the Director of Curriculum, Technology, Assessment, and Grants.
