New Student Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should I bring to school on the first day?
Please bring a pencil or pen, a notebook and folder, and a lunch or lunch money. Lunch costs $3.10. Students will share a hallway locker with another student and need a combination locker for their locker. Those students who are scheduled for Physical Education will also need to bring their own lock for the locker room.
Q: When will I get my locker?
Your locker will be assigned in your first hour class, usually on the first or second day of school.
Q: Do I need to buy a planner before starting school?
AndersonMiddle School provides academic planners to each of their students. You will need to keep your planner with you at all times. If you lose your planner, you can purchase a new one in the school office for $5.00.
Q: When do I eat lunch?
All Anderson students are provided with both recess and eating time during their lunch period. All 7th and 8th graders eat their lunch before their Fourth Hour class. During the first lunch the 8th graders will eat first while the 7th graders are at recess. Half way through the lunch period the 8th grade will go to recess and the 7th grade will eat. All 6th graders eat lunch after their Fourth Hour class.
Q: What are the school hours?
The opening bell rings at 8:05 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m. School is dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
Q: What doors do I come in each morning?
Eighth grade students enter the building through the main front doors off of Catalpa, the Sixth grade enter the building through the front doors off of Catalpa near the tennis courts and the Seventh grade enter the building through the back foyer doors at the end of the Stadium courtyard walkway. Students who receive rides to school can be dropped off in the back of the school in the parking lot, and can follow the sidewalk around the west side of the building to the front doors. The receiving room door at the back of the building may not be used by students.
Students must remain outside of the building until 8:05 a.m. Please dress appropriately, as students are only allowed to wait inside the building during extreme weather conditions.
