Berkley Schools is an Exceptional Place to Work
The Berkley Culture
The Berkley School District has a culture steeped in a tradition of excellence in academics, the fine arts, and athletics. For the past six years, the District was named by the Washington Post and Newsweek as one of America’s Best and Most Challenging High Schools and also for the past three years named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. These accolades come as a result of students who come to school ready to learn, strong parent and community participation and support, and outstanding teachers, administrators, and a Board of Education who are committed to providing an environment conducive to all aspects of learning.

New Teacher Induction
Our New Teacher Induction Academy is a year-long program to make the transition to Berkley School District a snap. The program begins with a 2½ day orientation in the summer with six follow-up meetings during the school year. Past meeting topics include: Effective Parental Involvement and Communication, Preparing for a Formal Evaluation, Differentiating Instruction for All Learners, and Teachers Professionally Developing Teachers.
All new professional staff members are assigned a mentor for their first two years of employment with the district. Using the Pathways model, mentors and new teachers collaborate in a series of seven structured activities to assist new staff in becoming reflective professionals and address their specific needs as a beginning teacher.
Education of Employees’ Children
Employees who reside outside of the district’s boundaries may enroll their children in the Berkley School District.
Berkley School District teachers enjoy a 5% discount when using our district preschool, child care programs and/or latchkey programs and a 20% discount at the district’s Fitness Center located at the high school.
