Free Preschool Application is Now Open

The registration window is now open for families to apply for free preschool (Pre-K for All) at Berkley Building Blocks (BBB) for the 2026-27 school year. BBB will have 13 free preschool classrooms next year, and anticipates that all Berkley Schools 4-year-old residents will have a spot.
Pre-K for All is a state funded program also known as the Free Preschool Program and follows the GSRP regulations. Pre-K for All is designed to prepare students for Kindergarten. It offers children the opportunity to participate in activities designed to enhance the whole child. A carefully designed curriculum emphasizes social, emotional, physical, language and intellectual growth. The program will also provide many pre-reading and pre-writing activities.
The program provides opportunities for each child to explore and utilize self-selection activities and develop problem solving skills, and supports each child’s natural inclination to learn. The Building Blocks program is also coordinated with the Kindergarten curriculum to ensure that each child is prepared for years to come.
Pre-K for All (GSRP/Free Preschool)
- Ages 4 to 5 years
- Full-Day: Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
- Half-Day: Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 12 pm
- Before and After Care available
- Grant-Funded Free Program
- Students must be 4 by September 1st of the current school year
Pre-K for All (GSRP) is an application-based program and we encourage all families to apply.
Important Steps to Fill Out the GSRP Application
- As you fill out the GSRP application, be sure to mark on the first question that you do have a specific preschool you would like to apply for.
- Select Oak Park as the city.
- Select Avery Elementary School-Berkley Building Blocks.
- After you complete the application a care coordinator will contact you from Oakland County if there is any additional information that is needed.
- Ms. Jillian, BBB Grant Coordinator, will schedule a meeting with you to look at options for 4 year old preschool.
- Spaces will be offered in February and March.
