New to Berkley Elementary Cohort Day 3

New to Berkley Elementary Cohort Day 3

The New to Berkley Elementary Teacher Cohort met for their third session in April. In the morning, Melissa Miller, Elementary Math Coach, led the group in studying a Math Essential Practice that focused on making sense of and solving story-based problems. The cohort also spent time diving deeper into the Leader in Me digital resources to support the social-emotional learning environment.

In the afternoon, the team explored a Literacy Essential Practice that focused on research-informed and standards-aligned writing instruction with Elementary Literacy Coach, Nicole Durand. Later, Technology Integration Specialist, Kaila Payne, demonstrated effective ways to leverage new District technology in order to best support student learning in the classroom.

Over the course of the series, participants in the cohort deepened their knowledge of the most up-to-date research-based and evidence-based instructional practices in both math and literacy. As outlined in the Strategic Plan, Goal #1: Thinking & Learning, teaching excellence supported during these special cohort days will benefit Berkley Schools students for years to come!
