Quick Updates from BHS

BHS News Update

Dear Berkley High School students, parents and guardians,

I apologize for interrupting your summer a little earlier than usual, however, I wanted to send out a quick communication to clarify some of the questions we’ve been receiving.  Please know that I still plan on sending my annual “welcome back” email in the coming weeks with all of the usual details for the upcoming year.

Today’s quick email is to give some details regarding freshman orientation, picture day and the release of student schedules.

  • Freshman Orientation: Freshman orientation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 22 in the auditorium.  Prior to orientation on Monday morning, we recommend that all freshmen log into MISTAR and take a screenshot of their schedule with their phones.  Part of their orientation will be a building tour and, therefore, the screenshot will be a handy reference for them to learn the location of their classes.  We will be sure to have paper copies on hand as a backup.
  • Schedules: The District’s plan was to make schedules viewable to students in MISTAR on Monday, August 23.  In hearing from some students and parents, it sounds like they are prematurely viewable on MISTAR and Schoology at the present time.  Please note that we are still in the process of tweaking and arranging schedules and, therefore, some changes can be expected.  We ask that you refrain from emailing your counselor or calling the office staff to request a schedule change as those requests will be addressed during the week of August 22.  My welcome back email will provide you with a link to a Google form in which you can make a schedule change request.  Upon completion of that request, the student's counselor will update their schedule or contact them via email.  As in year’s past, teacher changes and requests will not be honored.  Only students with missing classes, incorrect classes or conflicts in their schedule may request a change.

Again, I hope you are soaking up the warm summer sunshine and enjoying your time off.  Keep an eye on your inboxes for my welcome back email in the coming weeks.

Take care,

Andy Meloche
