Leader in Me School Survey

Leader in Me School Survey

Dear AMS Families,
Over the last several years, AMS has sought out a widely used, researched based program that focuses on positive character and leadership within our school community.  For those whose children previously attended Pattengill Elementary, you are likely familiar with The Leader In Me, which is based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  AMS has begun implementation of The Leader in Me Program, this year starting at the staff level.  Last Monday during the district professional learning days, AMS teachers and support staff participated in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People training. This is just the first step of our journey in implementing The Leader in Me at AMS, which will move to the student level likely later this year.

As part of the implementation process, our school will be administering the Measurable Results Assessment (MRA), a survey and reporting system designed to provide insights into the progress of our school. In order to provide a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, the MRA includes three different surveys; 1) one completed by all school staff, 2) one completed by all students, and 3) one completed by the families of students in all grades.  These are anonymous surveys with the goal of gathering valuable feedback from stakeholders.

FAMILY SURVEY INFORMATION
WHAT: Online survey completed by one member of each household.

  • Survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
  • Questions relate to the experiences you and your child have had at our school.
  • Answers are anonymous to encourage people to be honest and open; no names and other identifying information will be collected.

WHEN: The survey is available for you to take now through November 30.
HOW: The survey can be taken from any computer, smartphone, or tablet with internet access.  Simply click on this link to access the family survey: https://www.leaderinme.com/s/anderson-middle-school/families

In addition to the family and staff survey, we are asking students to also complete a student survey.  This is an anonymous survey intended to gather important feedback about students' experiences at our school so that we can take a holistic approach to improving our school community.

STUDENT SURVEY INFORMATION

  • Students will be taking the student survey next Monday, November 21, in the following elective classes:

6th Grade will take the survey in any one of the following elective classes: Art, PE, FCS, Computers, Math or Academic Strategies, or LRC

7th and 8th Grade will take the survey in the following elective classes:  Art, PE, FCS, Computers, Robotics, Math or Academic Strategies, LRC, or Spanish (all levels)

  • Survey typically takes 15-20 minutes to complete
  • Students anonymously answer questions about their attitudes and behaviors and they can skip questions and stop anytime they choose.
  • If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please email their elective teachers from the elective classes listed above for each grade level to opt your child out of participation.  Students who do not wish to participate in the survey, or whose parents choose to deny permission for their participation, will not be required to take the survey.

I thank you in advance for your time in taking the family survey and for your support in allowing your child to participate in the survey.  Getting valuable feedback from our stakeholder groups will best serve our planning throughout the remainder of the school year and beyond.

Sincerely,
Michael Ross
AMS Principal
