March Miracle Basketball Tournament Reminder

March Miracle Vikings 2023

Dear AMS Families,

This is just a reminder that our second annual March Miracle basketball tournament at Anderson Middle School will take place from March 17-22.  Anderson will be promoting physical fitness and community service through this fun basketball event.  All students grades 6-8 can participate, while raising money for our charity, Camp Casey.

Casey Foote was a young girl who lost her battle against bone and brain cancer when she was 12.  During the last few years of her life, Casey was introduced to a horse farm where she spent many afternoons grooming and riding her favorite horse. Connecting with horses allowed Casey to be a kid again and kept her and her family strong during their difficult fight. Camp Casey keeps Casey’s legacy alive by offering opportunities for kids like her to connect with horses.  The students at AMS will show their support for other children battling cancer and rare blood disorders by bringing in donations and participating in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for a chance to compete in the championship finals assembly.

In order to participate, students will secure donations.  Suggested sponsors include family, friends, neighbors, teachers, parents’ colleagues, etc.  Participants are eligible to win great prizes and championship team members will be commemorated on a banner in our school’s lobby.  If your child doesn’t want to participate, but would like to contribute and show school spirit at our finals assembly, please consider purchasing a March Miracle t-shirt for the event.  To order a t-shirt, please click on March Miracle T-Shirt Order Form.  We will also be collecting donations for concession sales at our prelims tournament. Please check out the concessions sign up genius and consider donating snacks - all proceeds go to Camp Casey.

Each participant is required to secure and submit a minimum of $30, in addition to a signed parent waiver, on or before Friday, March 3,  2023.  Please send cash or make checks payable to Berkley School District. Participation paperwork & t-shirt order forms have already been distributed to students and will be available in the office, outside Mrs. Saltsman's classroom (Room 101), and Mrs. Burke’s classroom (Room 216).

Thank you for supporting this exciting and worthy cause.

Sincerely,
Karen Saltsman
