BHS Freshman & New Student Orientation

10 am – 12:30 pm

This orientation is for Freshman and students who are new to Berkley High School. The goal of orientation is to help students familiarize themselves with the culture of BHS as well as the many opportunities it provides. All students will begin orientation in the Auditorium and will then have an opportunity to learn about the school through a peer leader.

At Orientation, students will​:

  • Receive their schedule and planner
  • Get a locker assignment
  • Tour the school: Auditrium, Cafeteria, Classrooms, Counseling Center, Gyms, LMC, Pool, Offices and more.
  • Learn about different opportunities: BeDrama, Clubs, Athletics, NHS, Diversity Cuncil, Peer to Peer, Robotics, Student Leadership, Sources of Strength and more.

If students cannot attend their class level orientation, schedules and planners can be picked up on Monday, August 19, between 9-10 am from Mrs. Swayze in the main office or on the first day of school, August 26.

The Back to School online packet must be completed before Orientation.

Pictures

Pictures for students in the 9th, 10th & 11th grades will be taken the second day of school, August 27. Order forms will be sent out by the photographer in the summer. I.D. cards for 12th graders will be issued with the last picture on file with Lifetouch.

BHS East Gym

Students receive their class schedule, locker information and student planners at schedule pick up. In order to receive a schedule prior to the first day of school, parents/guardians must complete the annual Back to School Packet online and all fines, fees and books from last year must be cleared/paid/returned.

If students cannot attend their class level orientation, schedules and planners can be picked up on Monday, August 19, between 9-10 am from Mrs. Swayze in the main office or on the first day of school, August 26.

Please only attend the time designated for each grade, below.

  • 12TH GRADE SENIORS: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13
    • 9:00 AM: Check fees and fines status
    • 9:1510:30 AM: Pay fines, receive schedule and planner
  • 11TH GRADE JUNIORS: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13
    • 10:30 AM: Check fees and fines status
    • 10:45 AM12 PM: Pay fines, receive schedule and planner
  • 10th GRADE SOPHOMORES: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13
    • 1:00 PM: Check fees and fines status
    • 1:152:30 PM: Pay fines, receive schedule and planner

Schedule Changes

Teacher changes and requests will not be honored. Only students with missing classes, incorrect classes or conflicts in their schedules may stop into the Counseling Center to make an adjustment. There will be no schedule changes after August 29.

Pictures

Parking

At schedule pick up, students will have an opportunity to fill out a form to apply for a parking spot. There are 215 spots available for students. Some students will receive prioritization (CASA, OSTC students, for example) and if the number of applications exceed the slots available, students will be placed into a lottery. At schedule pick up, students only need to fill out a form. If you receive a parking pass, the cost is $25.

Yearbooks are $70 until December 2, 2019.

Starting December 3, 2019, price increases to $80.
