PBiS Positive Behaviors Intervention and Support

PBiS is a school wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment.  Angell’s three school wide expectations are:

  • Be Kind
  • Be Safe
  • Be Productive

Our expectations matrix clearly explains to students what is expected of them in all of the building’s common areas (i.e. classroom, bathroom, hallway, arrival & dismissal, office, etc.).  We have established a school-wide common language so the children and staff can work together to ensure we are all on the same page, and we can help each other self-monitor our behavior.  Students "caught" going above and beyond our expectations will be given PBiS tickets and entered into a weekly drawing to be recognized as a "PBiS kid."  In addition to earning PBiS tickets, children will be recognized and given a certificate at our weekly Respect Circle assembly. At Respect Circle, each teacher chooses one student a week who has done an amazing job emulating our expectations, both in behavior and academics. Respect Circle is our opportunity to celebrate these children as an entire school. We hope you will talk with your child about our school wide expectations and reinforce PBiS at home. We appreciate your support in creating a safe, orderly learning environment for all Angell students.
