For Seniors...
Shelving.com Business Scholarship contest
Application due August 5th
Three scholarships will be awarded to eligible students either attending an accredited university or college, or a high school senior that is currently enrolled/planning to enroll in college beginning no later than the Fall 2022 semester. One student will receive a $3,000 first place scholarship—with $2,000 going to the runner-up and $1,000 to the second runner-up. Click here to apply.

- be pursuing a major in business or a business-related field of study
- have a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA
- submit a copy of their transcript and resume
- draft an essay

Request your Final Transcript via Parchment
This is REQUIRED if you are attending a college or university in the Fall.
ALL colleges require that an official and final transcript be sent upon graduation. You will need to do this via Parchment. (If you are not attending a college or university after graduation, you do not have to do this.)
How do I request my Final Transcript?
- Go to Parchment (link also available on BHS Counseling webpage or in the BHS College + Career course in Schoology -- in the College folder).
- Login or create your account (Edit or create your account using a personal email address, not your Berkley School District email). If you need help creating an account on Parchment, click here.
- Click “Order”
- Search for the destination that you want to send your final transcript to. When you find it, click “Select”.
- Under “When do you want this sent?”, select "Hold for Grades". This means the transcript won’t be sent until this semester’s grades are on it.
- Click “Save & Continue.”
- You’ll click “Save & Continue” again after reviewing your order.
- Give consent and click “Save & Continue.”

The purpose of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Regional Summer Student Transition and Engagement Program (STEP) is to address summer melt by connecting high school seniors to qualified coaches.
Participating students will build a strong, trusting relationship with Summer STEP coaches so that they can make meaningful decisions regarding college selection and complete financial aid, housing, and enrollment transition paperwork that prevent students from falling victim to summer melt.
Advising will cover the following topics, which are informed by important milestones in the college matriculation process:
- College applications
- Financial aid
- Financial planning
- Housing/food/transportation
- Enrollment transition

How to enroll
- Course Approval: Meet with your high school counselor to approve your chosen course.
- Application: Have your school send your approved Northwood University Dual Enrollment Application to registrar@northwood.edu.
- Transcripts: Send your transcripts to Northwood University using Parchment.

FIN 1010 Introduction to Finance: 3 Credits, Fall 2022 Semester (virtual, asynchronous format)
Designed to build an understanding of the various banking and finance industries through an examination of the segments of these industries and appraisals of the financial and management skills that future managers need to succeed.
ETR 1200 Successful Business Models: 3 Credits, Spring 2023 Semester (virtual, asynchronous format)
A survey course of successful entrepreneurial business models and the initial challenges these business models encountered. Students review and evaluate the business models of some of the world’s great entrepreneurs. Explores how to use a company's business model to identify resource requirements, focus risks, and diagram revenue streams. Includes use of the Business Model Canvas.

Students can view their scores online and print their own National Career Readiness Certificate starting June 30, 2022 by creating their free account at www.myworkkeys.com. (BHS does not have access to students' accounts.)
Students will provide the following five matching criteria when creating an account:
• First name
• Last name
• Month of birth
• Day of birth
• State Assigned Student ID Number (Unique Identification Code (UIC)). A student's UIC can be found in MiStar under Demographics.
Midnight Golf Program
Application for current juniors due Sept. 26th
Starting in their senior year of high school, through college graduation and into the workforce, the Midnight Golf Program provides a comprehensive support system and essential resources so students can thrive during this exciting time in their lives.
- 30 weeks of high-quality life skills training & 400 hours of direct programming
- College Success Coaches are assigned to each student to determine a college or university that fits their unique needs and aspirations

SAT/Khan Academy Virtual Prep Courses
Register for one of the SAT/Khan Academy Schoology Courses with Peer-to-Peer Tutoring this summer!
This course allows students to work at their own pace within the session dates, making it ideal for the summer. Cost is $50 for Macomb County residents, $65 for out-of-county residents. Sessions are identical, so please choose one that best fits your schedule. Registration is online at https://events.misd.net (search "Khan") for one of the sessions below:
- SAT Khan Academy - Session #1, June 16th – June 30th
- SAT Khan Academy – Session #2, July 13th – July 27th
- SAT Khan Academy – Session #3, Aug. 3rd – Aug. 17th
- SAT Khan Academy – Session #4, Aug. 17th – Aug. 31st
This asynchronous course will provide incoming juniors an opportunity to explore the tools available on the College Board Student Portal and the free SAT prep that is available through Khan Academy. The course will help each student link their accounts, so that Khan Academy will use their College Board test scores to develop a personalized plan. This plan will identify specific content each student should practice to be more successful on the SAT. Students will be able to work through the course at their own pace and schedule.
Student will want to complete the Schoology Coursework as soon as possible so they can spend more time practicing as many items as they can from their personalized plan in Khan Academy. This will also allow students to take full advantage of virtual peer-to-peer tutoring. The tutoring component is something NEW this summer and will provide students support as they work through their personalized plan in Khan Academy. Students will be able to attend scheduled tutoring sessions to receive support from peers who have already taken the SAT and are part of the Macomb Early College Program.

Female students interested in attending a Federal Service Academy - new!
Virtual O&A on June 16th at 6:30 PM
The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) is one of the five federal service academies that include West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, and Coast Guard academies. Our Admissions Office will be hosting this special session to answer any/all questions your students may have about service academy life.
June 16, 2022 6:30 p.m. EDT - Virtual question and answer session with some of our outstanding female Midshipmen and athletic coaches. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn about life at a federal service academy, athletic team opportunities, the Sea Year training experience, and more!

Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) is ideal for those who experience increased symptoms such as depression or anxiety and feel they would benefit from urgent intervention from prescribers and clinicians. It is an alternative to in-person, face-to-face treatment. BHUC uses the VSee.com platform to host its appointments. While using the forum, you will be able to manage your virtual care effortlessly.

BHS Summer Credit Recovery
BHS summer program will be focused on Credit Recovery Courses. Credit Recovery Courses should be selected in consultation with each student’s school counselor. Credit Recovery coursework will be delivered through the APEX online learning system, assisted, facilitated, and overseen by certified teachers. Students will complete the coursework in person. These courses are tailored to each student and are mastery-based, which means the length of time students must spend in Credit Recovery will vary and is dependent upon mastery of course objectives.
Program Details for Credit Recovery
- June 27 - July 28, 2022 (no class July 4 & 5)
- All classes held at Berkley High School
- Monday - Thursday, 8-10:15 am or 10:20 am - 12:30 pm
- Fee - $100 per credit recovery class for students attending Berkley Schools. The fee is $220 per class for out of district students. Any Berkley Schools student who is eligible for free/reduced meals will receive a reduced rate of $25/class.

April SAT, PSAT 9 + PSAT 10 scores released
Scores in student's College Board account
Scores were released to students in their College Board accounts beginning on May 20th. Some students’ scores may be released later due to testing in the accommodated testing window, missing information on the answer sheet, answer sheets received late, or other exceptional conditions that require additional attention. Scores for these students will be released daily as they become available. (NOTE: BHS will not have access to student scores until June 21st.)

Matching Student Scores to a College Board Account
If a student is signed into their College Board account but does not see their scores, it may be that CB was not able to link their score report and account automatically. For security reasons, a student must verify additional information before scores can be displayed.
To match, the student will:
- Log in to the College Board website or create a College Board account.
- Select "Matching Tool".
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- The student will select "I can supply my test information.:
There may be cases in which students will not be able to view their scores using the steps above; this may be because their information is inconsistent, the student has multiple College Board accounts, or their scores have not been released yet. If students cannot view their scores, they should call the College Board’s Student Helpline at 866-756-7346

Distinguished Young Women Leadership + Scholarship Program
Distinguished Young Women is a unique program that combines the chance to win college scholarships with a program that offers Life Skills training to prepare young women for the world after high school. The Civic Innovators Fellowship is designed for Gen Zers interested in building more regenerative systems in the U.S. and around the world. The goal of the Fellowship is to help each Fellow find their “You Shaped Hole” – the place where their communities’ needs intersect with their unique skills and passions. Each week, you’ll use case studies of past and present civic innovators to understand systems thinking, change-making skills, and community-based problem solving. Throughout the FREE three-month program, you’ll learn from innovative people, explore new ideas, and discover the emerging technologies being used to drive change in the 21st century. Temporary Custodial Support Job with Berkley School District
The Berkley School District is looking for 3-5 BHS Students interested in working afternoon hours (4 hrs/shift) as needed to assist with short term/temporary Custodial support.
- Hourly rate of pay: $15.00
- Hours available will be 4:00-8:00p, Monday-Friday
- Maximum of 20 hours/week
- Training will be provided!
- Building placement would be determined based on need and could change day to day
- Students 16 and 17 years of age will need a work permit, which are available in the Counseling Center.
Custodial support includes: classroom cleaning of desks, sinks, floors; sweep/vacuum classrooms, hallways, common spaces; disinfect bathrooms; wipedown doors and drinking fountains, empty trash, and related.
