Burton Students Visit Ford Rouge Factory

On May 15, 2023, 3rd graders at Burton Elementary went on a field trip to the Ford Rouge Factory Tour in Dearborn. This field trip is an extension of the “Global Connections” social studies curriculum that introduces economic concepts such as trade, specialization, globalization and interdependence. Students explored how Michigan is connected to the global community through what is produced and consumed in our state. 

While at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, students were immersed in the modern manufacturing process. They observed the production of the Ford F150 on the assembly line and through a 4D experience in the Manufacturing Innovation Theater. The students also toured the bee hives and orchards on the factory grounds to explore the relationship between nature and the factory.
