We discuss leadership daily in classrooms and are working to infuse this throughout our day. We frequently pair up with buddy classrooms to grow kindness and empathy across grade levels.
Support staff willing to fill gaps where needed and be an additional layer of support as we look at how to support students in the classroom through the use of small group instruction.

History of Rogers

Prior to being named Rogers Elementary School, Rogers was known as Hamilton Elementary, from 1952-1987.

In 1987, Hamilton Elementary was renamed to Rogers Elementary, in honor of Dr. Willard Rogers (Principal of Hamilton 1979-1986).

PBIS

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

The Rogers PBIS Committee implemented a PBIS system at our school several years ago. Our first step focused on identifying our key expectations for student behavior. The behaviors were originally separated into three main categories - Safety, Respect and Responsibility. Currently, our focus is on Respect, Responsibility and Resilience - Rogers' Three Rs - and of course Kindness. Please take a few minutes to review the expectations outlined in our matrix by opening the folder below. The staff at Rogers introduced the expectations to the students in September of 2011, and it is reviewed each year. As you visit the school, you will see many visual reminders about our expectations for behavior.

During the second semester of 2011-12, our team focused on the implementation of a positive behavior recognition system, and in 2016 this was amended to align with Conscious Discipline philosophy. Staff have the opportunity to submit Rogers Recognition tickets based on observing a student who demonstrated Respect, Responsibility, Resilience or Kindness. Since the 2016-2017 school year, students have had the opportunity to recognize each other as well. The recognition tickets are displayed on our "kindness tree", in celebration of our school family.
