Norup Fifth Graders Present their Learning at IB Exhibition

Norup Fifth Graders Present their Learning at IB Exhibition
As Norup fifth graders get ready to enter middle school, they take part in the Fifth Grade Exhibition. Exhibition is a capstone experience that is unique to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). During their final year of PYP, fifth graders take ownership of their learning and display what they have learned and who they have become. This year’s fifth graders presented their projects to family and friends on June 1. Students worked in groups with classmates from both fifth grade classes. This year, students were moved to learn more about the war in Ukraine after reading an article in Scholastic News. After learning more about the war, they decided to all do their projects about Ukraine. Students formed groups, researched and presented on the following topics: Refugees, economy, propaganda, mental health, the history of Russia and Ukraine, basic needs, impacts of war, and the world’s response.
For each topic, students reflected on responsibility, connection, change and reflection during their presentations.
The IB exhibition is a part of the International Baccalaureate accreditation at Norup and is a key component of Norup’s goal of creating global citizens.
