5th GRADE CAMP INFORMATION
January 13, 2023
Dear Parents & Caregivers of 5th Grade Students,
Below is some information about 5th grade camp which is coming up March 6th, 2023.. We recognize this is a lot of information however it is all critical to prepare for camp. Please make sure to complete any and all required digital forms.
1. Health Forms: Health forms are required for camp attendance. Please use the link to access all forms. We need all health forms completed by January 27th.
2. Medication: If your child takes medication, it would be very helpful if you could drop off their needed medication in Angell's main office on Thursday, March 2nd or Friday, March 3rd before or after school. All medication must be in its original container. More information about medication needs while at camp will be found on the health forms, so please review that information carefully when it's sent out.
3. 5th Grade Camp Rules and Pick-Up Authorization Form: All students and families must agree to all camp rules. Please indicate if any other adults have permission to pick your child up when we return from camp on Wednesday, March 8th at approximately 1:30 pm.
4. Packing List: Please use the Packing List to organize all the clothing and items needed for camp. Please note that students may not bring any electronics, including Apple Watches and phones of any kind.
5. Cabin Groups: Angell Students will be in cabins with students from Rogers and/or Pattengill. This will allow students to meet new friends as they begin the transition to middle school. Students will be carefully placed into cabin groups to include at least 1 chosen friend.
6. Final Camp Cost: The cost of camp, as indicated in a prior email, is $185.00 due to the generous support of our PTA. Payment is due prior to leaving for camp. If you are in need of financial assistance for camp, please reach out to me. Checks can be made out to the Berkley School District. Digital payments may be made through MISTAR. Please follow these directions to make online payments through the MISTAR Parent Portal.
Log into MISTAR
Choose the Accounts Tab located in the left hand side bar.
Choose the hyperlink “Click Here to Access Online SBA Payments”.
Choose the Angell 5th Grade Camp option.
You may choose to do a full payment of $185 or 4 payments of $46.25.
Be advised that the following charges will be added to any online payment: The paypal charge is $0.30 + 3%. The system will take you directly to Paypal to pay and then bring you back to MISTAR to post your payment to your student’s account. Our hope is to receive all camp payments by the end of February 2023.
Please note that if you are unable to pay within the timeline please communicate directly with Mr. Gigliotti as payment plans may be extended, if needed.
7. Nervous Camper: If your child is feeling nervous about camp, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher as they can help develop strategies that can help your child. It is also important to inform teachers of any potential issues (bedwetting, sleep walking, etc…) in advance.
8. Trading Post: Angell is allowing students to pre-order souvenirs and/or clothing as a memento of their Outdoor Environmental Education experience at YMCA Camps. As students are not allowed to bring money to camp, we provide the opportunity to pre-order. Orders will be delivered to your child the week after they return from camp. All forms are due back to classroom teachers by February 3rd.
9. Luggage Drop-Off: On the day of camp (March 6th), student luggage will need to be dropped off at Hartfield Lanes, 3490 12 Mile in Berkley at 7:15 AM. Volunteers are needed to help load the luggage onto the truck. If you are willing and able to help, please let your child's teacher or me know.
10. Letters: Fifth graders love mail! You are welcome to hand us your letters during medication drops on March 2nd and 3rd or at morning drop-off on March 6th. If you choose to mail them, you will want to send them out the week before we leave for camp.
