Student Schedules and Annual Online Paperless Packet

Dear AMS Students and Families,
I wanted to share a few updates as it pertains to student schedules and the annual online paperless packet. It came to my attention this morning that students are able to view class assignments for the upcoming year on Schoology. While classes are visible on Schoology, we still have some remaining work to do on our schedule this week before students come for schedule pick-up on August 21. That said, please know that courses that are visible on Schoology may change between now and August 21 and schedules will not be considered finalized until schedule pick-up on August 21. For those unable to come on August 21, up-to-date schedules will be visible on the MISTAR parent and student portals and on Schoology beginning August 22.
Additionally, as it pertains to schedules, I also wanted to share a change to our daily schedule. For the upcoming year, we will be adding a daily 20 minute homeroom (8:15-8:35) to our 6 period schedule with each regular class being 55 minutes in length and 5 minutes of passing time between classes. With the implementation of the Leader in Me Program this year, homeroom will allow for daily built in time to do Leader in Me activities and other school related activities without impacting instructional time.
Lastly, the window to complete the annual online paperless packet has not opened yet from the district. It is anticipated to open early this week. Due to the delay in being able to access the online packet, I have extended the deadline to complete the packet to August 25. A communication from the district will be sent early this week to all district families with more information about the annual online paperless packet process.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and, as always if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Michael Ross
AMS Principal
