Board of Education Honors Student Athletes at April Meeting

At the April 8, 2024 Regular Board of Education Meeting, the Board honored and recognized student athletes for their outstanding accomplishments.

Girls Varsity Basketball

The 2023-24 BHS Girls Varsity Basketball Team was honored for achieving team All-State Academic status for having a cumulative GPA of 3.66 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, the team went 17-5 in the regular season and 8-2 in the OAA Blue division. Coach Clay Shaver attended the meeting and shared season highlights.

Varsity Wrestling Team

The 2023-24 BHS Varsity Wrestling Team was honored for achieving team All-State Academic status for having a cumulative GPA of 3.42 on a 4.0 scale. Coach Ron Fritz attended the meeting and shared season highlights.

Gymnast

The Board of Education recognized Ava Sillars, BHS Senior, who qualified for and competed at the State Gymnastics Meet. Ava is a member of the Berkley-Troy Athens varsity gymnastics team and competed at the Regional meet as well. At the Regional meet, Ava placed 8th on the Beam and competed in that event at States, finishing 35th. 

Unified Figure Skating Team

The Board honored the Berkley-Royal Oak-Ferndale varsity figure skating team for qualifying for and competing at the State Championships. Six athletes were honored for their individual State accomplishments and for their team accomplishments at States. The B Team placed 1st in Intermediate Jumps, 3rd in Intermediate Moves and 3rd in Intermediate Spins, finishing in second place at States. In addition, the B Team was back-to-back District 6 Champions
