City of Oak Park Plants Trees with Norup Students

On Friday, April 26, Arbor Day, the City of Oak Park visited Norup and planted trees with fifth grade students. The annual Arbor Day tree planting is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation. The City of Oak Park has been a part of this initiative for 41 years with the goal of maintaining and growing their tree coverage. Each year, in honor of Arbor Day, the city works with a local school and their students to help plant trees in that school's vicinity. The City shared, “Having the students involved is important to us because it provides us with an opportunity to highlight the importance of trees and tree coverage in our community.”

Joe Nissan, General Foreman for the City of Oak Park shared, “Our goal is to inform the students and residents alike of why tree planting and maintenance is vital to us. We hope that everyone cares for trees like we do, so our future here is cared for.”
