Author A. Kidd Visits Angell

On May 13, Angell students were visited by A. Kidd, an author, artist and performance poet from Detroit, Michigan, known for her books The Healing Star and Yasuko and the Dream Eater. During the event, the author shared stories about her childhood, what inspired her creativity and her special relationship with her grandmother which influenced The Healing Star. She explained her process for creating stories and invited students to help design a key character, a Red Panda. Ms. Kidd concluded the presentation by reading aloud from The Healing Star and encouraged students to write and share their own stories.
