Board of Education Selects Two Final Superintendent Candidates

Good morning, Berkley Schools Community,

Last night, the Board of Education met to discuss the candidates for Superintendent who interviewed this week: Todd Bidlack, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, Bloomfield Hills Schools, Scott Francis, Director of Teaching, Learning and Technology, Berkley Schools, and Beth Gonzalez, Assistant Superintendent, Detroit Public Schools Community District. After reviewing 24 applications from candidates from six states, interviewing these three candidates and reviewing community feedback, we have determined the following candidates will be moving forward to a final interview.

The following candidates will interview at the time listed before their name:

  1. Wednesday, April 28, 7 pm: Scott Francis
  2. Thursday, April 29, 7 pm: Beth Gonzalez

All interviews will take place in person at Berkley High School in the Auditorium and the public is invited to attend. The audience is limited to 300 persons. If you would rather watch the interviews via live stream, we do have that option as well. Berkley School District is partnering with CMNtv to broadcast the Superintendent Search meetings.

The timeline to complete the hiring process as well as the interview video links are available on our Superintendent Search webpage.

We will work with our Superintendent Search coordinator John Silveri, to set up opportunities for stakeholder groups to interact with these candidates on the same day as their final interview. More details will be shared as we finalize them, including the safety protocols that will be in place.

As a reminder, if you have any questions about this process, please submit them to Lori Suarez, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and the Board. She will make sure your questions are directed to the appropriate person. All media inquiries should be directed to Jessica Stilger, Director of Communications.

We look forward to these finalist interviews and to receiving additional stakeholder feedback about the candidates. At the May 10 Regular Board Meeting, the Board will select the new Superintendent of Berkley Schools. We will live stream this meeting as well, and will share the resources to connect to the meeting as they become available.

Sincerely,

Keith A. Logsdon
President
Berkley School District Board of Education
