Superintendent Search Process Complete - A Note from Board President Keith Logsdon

Good Afternoon, Berkley Schools Community,

Last night at the Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the contract for Scott Francis to become the next Superintendent for Berkley Schools. This Board action completes the Superintendent Search process. Below is a message from Mr. Francis, introducing himself to the Berkley Schools community.

Thank you again for your engagement with the search process. We are looking forward to working with Mr. Francis starting on July 1.

Sincerely,

Keith A. Logsdon
President
Berkley Schools Board of Education

Dear Berkley Schools Community,

I am writing today to formally introduce myself to the Berkley Schools community. My name is Scott Francis and I’m the current Director of Teaching, Learning and Technology for Berkley Schools. I am sincerely honored to serve as the next Superintendent, and I wish to thank the Board of Education for entrusting me to lead our District.

Seventeen years ago, one of the best decisions my wife and I made was moving to the Berkley Schools community. We have three children, and next school year we will have a child at three different levels in the district - elementary, middle school, and a freshman at BHS. We have been thrilled with the education, opportunities, and love our children have received from the Berkley staff.

I have also had the fortune of working as an administrator in the Berkley School District for the past seven years, first as an elementary principal at Pattengill for three years and as the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Technology for the past four years. Prior to my time in Berkley, I spent 15 years in the classroom as a special education teacher and a general education classroom teacher at the elementary and middle school levels in two nearby districts.

Currently, I am making the transition with Superintendent McDavid, and I am grateful for his leadership and mentorship over the years. He has been an outstanding leader for our school community. A crucial part of my next steps will focus on building relationships with staff, families, and community members throughout the summer. The goal of the conversations and work will be centered around what is best for our students and staff, and how we can create a shared vision for the future of Berkley Schools.

I am incredibly proud of our District, and I am continually encouraged and inspired by our students, educators, and families. Berkley Schools is a special place, and I look forward to what the future holds for all of us.

Sincerely,

Scott Francis
