On April 14, 2025, Berkley High School teachers who lead student-led and project-based learning courses (Becky Flood, Joel Hunt, John Cooper, Jonathan Giarmo, Natalie Ford and Susie Sims) came together for a full day of professional learning and collaboration with high school instructional coach, Brittney Vaughn. The day focused on reflecting on the 2024-25 school year, planning group collaborations for the 2025-26 school year and refining instructional practices to better support student voice, choice and independence in learning.

Teachers parterend on planning a 2025-26 calendar for school-wide activities as well as cross-over collaboration between groups such as The Spectator (school newspaper) and BearPod (student produced podcasts). Additionally, educators worked collaboratively on developing clear grading practices and rubrics, managing student-directed projects and designing effective strategies for group collaboration. This day of learning reflects the District’s commitment to fostering authentic, engaging learning environments and ensuring a strong foundation for next school year’s student-driven experiences.
